- It was discontinued. The original supplier stopped making it, or the mold is gone, and now there's no source at all.
- Overseas lead times. It ships from abroad, and between production and freight you're looking at weeks or months.
- Tooling economics. Nobody will cut a new mold for a low-volume part, so it falls through the cracks of traditional manufacturing entirely.
