3D Printed Electronics Enclosures & Housings

Custom housings built around your electronics — mounting bosses, real threaded inserts, ventilation, and cable pass-throughs — in engineering materials tough enough for production. No off-the-shelf box you have to drill into, and no tooling to justify.

The short version: We produce custom electronics enclosures and housings as real production parts — in ASA, polycarbonate, and glass filled nylon — with integrated mounting bosses, heat-set inserts, ventilation, and cable pass-throughs. Designed to fit your PCB exactly, produced in low-to-mid volume with no tooling and no MOQ, and available outdoor-rated for UV and weather.

The Off-the-Shelf Box Problem

Every hardware team knows the pain: the stock project box never has the cutouts in the right place, never fits the board cleanly, and always leaves someone drilling holes by hand and hot-gluing standoffs. That's fine for a one-off, but it's no way to ship a product. A custom enclosure flips it — the box fits your electronics instead of your electronics fighting the box: ports line up, bosses hold the PCB where it belongs, vents sit where heat actually builds, and the lid actually closes.

Injection molding gives you that fit, but only after thousands of dollars in tooling and months of lead time — a bad trade for the low-to-mid volumes most hardware products ship at, especially while the design is still evolving. Printing gives you the custom fit with none of the tooling, and you can revise the enclosure as your board revs.

Production Enclosure Features We Build In

🔩

Mounting Bosses & Inserts

PCB standoffs and bosses sized to your board, with heat-set brass inserts for durable, reusable metal threads.

🔌

Cable Pass-Throughs & Glands

Connector cutouts, cable entries, and boss features sized for commercial cable glands — positioned exactly where your ports are.

🌬️

Ventilation & Cooling

Vent slots and airflow features placed where heat actually builds, and fan mounts for devices that need active cooling.

🔒

Snap-Fits & Closures

Snap-fit or screw-down lids, sealing lips, and alignment features — designed with proper clearances so the enclosure closes right every time.

☀️

Outdoor & Sealed

Weather-resistant enclosures in ASA for UV and moisture, with gaskets and sealing designs for ingress protection.

🏷️

Branding & Labels

Logos, labels, and text printed directly into the surface, plus color options in FDM — no secondary labeling step.

Materials for Real Enclosures

Material Best for Why
ASA Outdoor & UV-exposed housings UV and weather resistant without going brittle
Polycarbonate High-heat & high-impact enclosures Impact strength and heat resistance
Glass filled nylon Rigid, dimensionally stable housings Stiff and stable for precise fitment
PETG / ABS Cost-effective indoor enclosures Tough, everyday functional housings

Material matched to the enclosure's real environment — indoor, outdoor, heat, or impact — during quoting. Datasheets available on request.

We Review Every Enclosure Before We Print It

Enclosures live or die on the details, so every file gets an engineering review before the build: we check wall thickness, snap-fit clearances, boss diameters and hole depth, and whether each feature is accessible for the chosen print orientation. If a boss is too thin, a vent will bridge poorly, or a snap-fit clearance won't hold, we flag it with specific dimensional feedback before the run — not after you've got a box of parts that don't close. That's the difference between a print shop and a manufacturer, and it's how the enclosure works the first time. See our design-for-production approach and tolerances guide for how we design the fits.

Prototype to Production, One Vendor

Validate the enclosure as a functional prototype, confirm the PCB fits and the lid closes, then run production — same geometry, same features, same facility. No switching vendors between prototype and production, no re-tooling, and reorders run from the validated file. It's the same path we run for all end-use production parts, backed by real production capacity when your volume grows.

Get Your Enclosure Quoted

Upload your enclosure CAD (and PCB dimensions if you want us to verify fitment). We'll review the design, recommend the material for the environment, and commit a lead time — as soon as one week depending on complexity and volume.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can printed enclosures be used for production, not just prototypes?
Yes — in engineering materials like ASA, polycarbonate, and glass filled nylon, they're production-grade housings with integrated bosses, inserts, ventilation, and cable pass-throughs, made in low-to-mid volume without tooling.
What material is best for an outdoor enclosure?
ASA, for UV and weather resistance without becoming brittle. Polycarbonate for higher heat or impact, glass filled nylon for maximum stiffness. We match material to the enclosure's real environment.
Can you add threaded inserts and mounting bosses?
Yes — heat-set brass inserts for durable metal threads, plus mounting bosses, PCB standoffs, and snap-fit features designed and printed into the enclosure, with boss and hole features reviewed for the print orientation.
Can a printed enclosure be sealed or IP-rated?
Sealed, weather-resistant enclosures are achievable with the right design — gaskets, sealing lips, and cable glands, typically in ASA. Achievable ingress protection depends on the design and closure method, which we review per application.
Do you verify my PCB will fit?
If you include PCB dimensions and mounting requirements, we verify fitment during design review — checking standoff heights, boss positions, and connector cutout alignment before printing.
